Privacy Policy
Effective October 31, 2026
Laterne is an app by Plaw, Inc. for watching media you already have: your own media server, or an IPTV playlist and program guide you're allowed to use. This policy covers Laterne for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV.
The short version
Laterne doesn't collect your personal data. It has no ads, no tracking and no analytics, and it never sends us what you watch.
What stays on your device
- The addresses of the servers and playlists you add, and the sign-in tokens for them, which are kept in the system Keychain.
- Your settings and preferences, such as audio and subtitle languages and profile choices.
- Cached artwork, library information and program guides, so the app opens quickly.
- Removing a server, playlist or profile removes its data. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
What your servers receive
- Laterne talks to the servers and playlists you add directly. Plaw doesn't relay, see or store that traffic.
- Your media server receives what any of its apps sends: your sign-in, what you play, your playback progress and watched status, and your device's name and model and the app version, so it can show who is watching where.
- Playlist and guide servers receive ordinary requests for their files and streams.
- The people who run those servers decide what they do with this information, under their own policies.
What Plaw receives
- Nothing from the app itself.
- If you test Laterne with TestFlight, Apple shares with us the name and email address you were invited with, and the feedback, screenshots and crash reports you choose to send. Apple's privacy policy covers how Apple handles them.
- If you email us, we use your message only to answer you.
Sharing and selling
We don't sell personal data, share it with anyone, or use it for advertising.
Children
Laterne isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anyone's personal data.
Your choices
You can remove any server, playlist or profile in Settings at any time, or delete the app to remove everything it stored on your device.
Changes
If Laterne starts handling data differently, for example with an optional Laterne account, we'll update this policy before that version ships and change the date above.
